Accidental Release Information Program (ARIP)
ARIP involves collecting questionnaire information from facilities that have had significant releases of hazardous substances, developing a national accidental release database, analyzing the collected information, and disseminating the results of the analysis to those involved in chemical accident prevention activities. ARIP also helps to focus industry's attention on the causes of accidental releases and the means to prevent them. Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) Air Pollution Incident Reports (link)
Includes accidental releases as well as high-pollution events of public concern for the San Francisco Bay Area, California. 


Chemical Safety Board Chemical Incidents Report Center (link)
The CSB has recently started a database containing incidents reported to them. It currently contains reports from 1998 onward, but there are plans to expand as time permits. 

  
CAIT Accident Investigation Summary Matrix (link)
For a list of accidents that EPA's Chemical Accident Investigation Team has investigated or is investigating.

OECD Chemical Accident Risk Assessment Thesaurus (link)
The Chemical Accident Risk Assessment Thesaurus (CARATTM) is a database of laws, regulations, guidance standards and definitions of terms related to the risk assessment of accidental releases of chemicals from fixed installations. The database also contains information on the application of risk assessment methodologies to specific examples of potential chemical releases.


EPA CEPPO Chemical Accident Histories (link)
Contains data from 1998 and 1999, but also has additional links to U.S. and international databases of interest. May not be active at this time.

 
Major Hazard Incident Data Service (MHIDAS)
Published by AEA Technology on behalf of the UK Health and Safety Executive, this database is An excellent resource for querying incident information. The service is available on CD-ROM, or online by contacting EINS.


Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University

The Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center is conducting a number of projects on "Development of Accident History Databases", "Analyses of Accident History Databases", and "Risk Assessment Based on Accident History Databases." One such project involves the compilation of incidents from various sources. A preliminary version of the Accident History Database, compiled by the Center, is available in the MEMBERS AREA on their website. REGISTRATION REQUIRED.


NOAA Oil Spill Case Histories Database
